About Indus River:
Indus River, born out of the unique circumstances of the end of the pandemic in 2023, is a dynamic and unapologetically diverse progressive metal band hailing from Southampton, UK. Comprising Brad Jones (Vocals), Stu Tarling (Guitar), Sam Hassell (Guitar), Tom Hards (Bass) and Harry Ward (Drums), they utilise a fusion of eclectic musical influences that range from 80s power ballads to the intensity of deathcore.
Exploration and Identity:
Indus River's sound is a product of both adversity and inspiration. The band's refusal to be confined to a single genre and their playful approach to their craft have resulted in a unique identity. As the band puts it, “We want to enjoy the music that we are playing, not take ourselves too seriously and make some friends on the way.”
Releases:
Indus River made an initial statement into the music scene with their debut single, 'Suffocate.' The track has garnered significant attention, achieving over 5,000 streams on Spotify and 10,000 views on YouTube. 'Suffocate' is a sonic journey that captures the essence of the band's formation—born from the challenges of the pandemic, the chaos of city life and the collective desire to create something truly extraordinary. This track was recorded, mixed and mastered by the band's own Stu Tarling, who continues to learn his craft as more tracks are released.
‘Deity’ released on Valentines Day, pushing boundaries with the inclusion of deathcore elements and groove. The track confronts the notion of stepping into the role of ‘God’ for a day, challenging the status quo and envisioning a world where you rectify the many problems that plague humanity. With thunderous riffs, bone-rattling drums, and Sam Walley's featured guttural prowess, ‘Deity’ is a sonic maelstrom that builds towards a cataclysmic breakdown. This is not just a track; it's a bold declaration that demands introspection on power, accountability, and the human condition. Brace yourself for a revelation that leaves an indelible mark on the airwaves.
‘Deja Vu’, the final single that was released before the EP is a progressive metal ballad that delves into the turmoil of repetition and despair, yet ultimately finds hope and determination to break free. This track seeks to resonate with those seeking resilience and redemption in the face of adversity, offering listeners a cathartic journey through raw emotion and unyielding spirit.
The band's self-titled EP released 3rd May 2024 with a headlining release show at The Joiners, Southampton with FEAR, Parting With Origin and whitenoise.
Philosophy:
Indus River is more than just a band; it's a celebration of creativity and camaraderie. "We are so excited with the sound we have created and cannot wait to unleash more in the future," says the band, emphasising their anticipation for the musical journey ahead. With a mission to have fun and connect with their audience, Indus River invites everyone to join them on their adventure, forging connections and making friends along the way.
